The Last Man

from Utopia by Bryan Macdonald

/

lyrics

He stood alone on the road from Istakhr.
Past beliefs, now an illusion.
The lonely road, toward s a guiding star.
To the land of dissolution.

The man in rags in the park, on memories fields.
He softly spoke, I was once you.
The last man, without a dream.

Then he came, upon a fortress of stone.
A place of grace, and absolution.
Halls that echoed to the distant call.
Of the priest and the magician.

He heard the call to arms, so loud and clear.
He then turned his channel remote.
To the favourite show, of the weak.

Behind the mirror’s depthless lens.
Lies the void and distant world.
Of an existential threat.
There lies, the lost bewildered herd.
They bear the tragedy without strain.
The comfort of conformities pain.
What Orpheus once kept eternal.
Now erased for a greater gain.

The man in rags in the park, near memories fields.
His sign that read, I was once yours.
The last man, to be revealed.

The last man, to walk this cold lonely beech.
